Know How : Melting and Pouring process

The metal is melted in a furnace and poured into the mold, knowing that during the melting process, many adjustments are made to bring the final metal chemistry within a specified range

  •   During the melting process, the foundryman prepares the charge to melt (scraps and alloying elements). Several quotations are made to determine the required metal chemical composition.

  •   The process includes temperature controls and analyses with a spectrometer in order to adjust the melt chemistry.

  •   The ladle that will be used to pour the liquid metal is preheated before with a gas burner in order to be at same temperature as the liquid metal.

  •   Liquid metal is then poured into the ladle.

  •   Molten metal is then poured into the molds using ladle. Pouring process includes vertical continuous casting or a bottom pouring ladle.

The group is equipped with the induction furnaces :

  •   By BOUTTE FONDERIES :2 furnaces with a capacity of 750 kg each and 1 furnace with a capacity of 350 kg.
  •   By FCI INDUSTRIES : 1 furnace with a capacity of 1,5 ton and 2 furnaces with a capacity of 800 kg each.
