Know How : Quality control
|
|
|
Controls are made in order to detect any default on the casting part.
Non destructive controls :
- Ultra-sounds Ultrasounds are used to test the mechanical properties of the part (risks of shrinkage cavity, gas defaults…).
- Magnetoscopy Magnetoscopy reveals defaults that surface the part (ex. Fissures).
- Liquid penetrant testing When using a liquid penetrant, any surface default will be detected.
- Waterproof control Water pressure is applied to the part to detect any waterproof default.
Destructive controls :
- Mechanical testing are used to determine mechanical properties of the part. These tests are performed on specimens taken from bars with cast parts.
- Tensile test machine is used to control :
- Resistance to rupture
- Elasticity limits
- Steel elongation
- Resilience testing is used to test the toughness of the part.
